This engine came out of Turbo Magazine’s “Science Project” 1989 Mustang project vehicle. It was featured numerous times in the magazine and was also shown at various events. In its final configuration (as it is now) it was dynoed at 657.8 rear wheel HP on a Dynojet 248C portable dyno at a Battle of the Imports event in Palmdale. This was outside, in the high desert, with the A/C on (thus the condenser was hotter, etc.) to keep the driver comfortable. Corrected flywheel HP with high octane gas will easily exceed 700 hp. Going to larger turbos such as T4s could get you over 1,000 HP. The engine only has about 5,000 miles on it and would cost far more than $15,000 to build today. It was fully balanced, blueprinted and built by Paul Pfaff to not only have very high output but to remain fully driveable and reliable on the street. This engine has a lot of very special features as shown below, it would be very expensive to duplicate. Comes with intercooler, Haltech F3, exhaust system, intake ducting with blow-off valve and more for Fox Mustang. Basically, it's a VERY upgraded DDMI bolt-in kit with some trick, custom options. • Fully prepped Ford Racing A4 block, .030" over so 308 cu. in. displacement
• Ford Racing steel crank, fully balanced with Mallory metal and race prepped
• Eagle Steel rods
• Custom, dual coated JE forged pistons, 8.4:1 CR. Comes with 2 extra pistons.
• TFS Aluminum Heads fully ported/prepped by Bill Craddock Ent.
• Crane roller hydraulic cam with full kit and guide plate conversion
• Ford Racing valves
• Fel-Pro gaskets with o-rings, ARP studs
• Extrude Honed Vortech Intake, balanced/flowed to 250 cfm/runner
• RC Engineering matched fuel injectors (24# lower, 26# upper; 400# total)
• Accufab 75mm throttle body
• DDMI-based twin turbo for Fox Mustang (‘79 - ‘93), exhaust parts included.
• Garrett T28H “hybrid” turbos modified by TEC:
• Extrude Honed turbine housings for more, balanced flow
• Clipped turbine wheels
• Larger compressor wheels
• Large, low mount intercooler for better efficiency and weight distribution.
